Election Information for 2018

The 2018 election season is a non-presidential election.  The Primary Election will be held August 14, 208 and the General Election will be November 6, 2018.

Polling Place - Voters living in the City of Watertown will come to City Hall at 309 Lewis Ave. S. on Election Day.  Polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. for the Primary and General Elections.

Primary Election - You can pre-register for the Primary Election until 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 24. You can pre-register at City Hall or online through the Secretary of State's website below.  After July 24, you must register on the day of the Primary Election at the polling place.  Absentee voting can be done from June 29 until August 14 for the Primary Election. You can apply for an absentee ballot application by going to the Secretary of State's website below.  Ballots for the election can be returned via mail or in person to the Carver County Government Center – 600 East 4th Street, Chaska, MN 55318.

General Election - You can pre-register for the General Election from August 15 to October 16 at City Hall or on line through the Secretary of State's website below.  After October 16 you must register on the day of the General Election at the polling place.  Absentee voting for the General Election is from September 21 through November 5. You can apply for an absentee ballot application by going to the Secretary of State's website below.  Ballots for the election can be returned via mail or in person to the Carver County Government Center – 600 East 4th Street, Chaska, MN 55318.

City Offices Open for election - Watertown will have three offices up for election this year: Mayor Steve Washburn and Council Members Lindsay Guetzkow and Michael Walters. The Mayor's term is two years and the two council positions are four years each.  If you are interested in running for council or Mayor in Watertown, you may come to City Hall between July 31 and August 14 and pick up the application material. Filing fee is $15. City Hall is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Friday.  If you have any questions, please call City Hall at 952-955-2681.
