Residential Building Permit Incentive Program

At the regular City Council meeting on June 10th, 2014 the Watertown City Council unanimously approved the Residential Permit Incentive Program. This aggressive campaign is in response to the sluggish new home starts the community has seen recently in comparison to surrounding communities. In an effort to jump start new residential single family home and townhome construction in Watertown, the City is committed to making an investment of up to $142,000 in new construction permit incentives. This program is unlike anything currently available in the market in our area and should entice new residential growth in our community. The City is confident that once a prospective new home buyer enters the City limits, they will be impressed by the amenities, abundance of natural resources, strong schools, and charm of our community and make this their new home.

This program is a short term investment by the City of Watertown that makes available 15 permits with a 100% credit of City water, sewer, and storm water trunk fees associated with a new single family or townhome building permit. This is a value of $9,500.00. This limited time incentive is available for permits issued by the City between June 1st and October 31st of 2014 on a first come, first served basis. If any permits remain and are issued between November 1st and December 31st of 2014, the permit will be eligible for a 75% credit on the permit with a value of $7,125.00.

In creating a partnership with our developer and builder community to help build new residential growth, the City expects that the product that is provided for in our community meets some of our standards. This includes designing and building structures that comply with City code, state building code, recorded covenants by neighborhood if applicable, conform to landscaping and public improvements called for in the development agreement, and that undeveloped lots and construction site are maintained per the standards set forth in City code.
