My Government

The City of Watertown utilizes council/administrator form of government. This system provides the citizens of Watertown a responsive, progressive government and a vision for our community.

The City Council is presided over by the Mayor, who is elected to a two-year term. The four council members are elected every four years via city-wide vote. Among its primary duties, the city council makes laws, sets policies, adopts budgets and oversees a wide-ranging agenda for the community. The city administrator oversees and directs all city operations, projects and programs.

The Watertown City Council is comprised of one Mayor and four councilmembers.  The City Council holds its regular meetings on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month.  The public is welcome at at City Council Meeting.

Economic Development Authority

Watertown's Economic Development Authority (EDA) reports to the City Council and is tasked with business recruitment and retention for the City.  The EDA is comprised of two City Councilmembers and three members of the public.

Park and Recreation Commission

Watertown's Park and Recreation Commission reports to the City Council and is comprised of seven community members and one non-voting City Council liasion.  The Park and Recreation Commission meets on the third Wednesday of each month.

Planning Commission

Watertown's Planning Commission reports to the City Council and is comprised of seven community members appointed by the City Council.  One City Councilmember and one Watertown Township Supervisor serve as a non-voting liaison to the Planning Commission. The Planning Commission meets on the fourth Thursday of each month.

Commission on Aging

 The Watertown Commission on Aging reports to the City Council and is comprised of eleven community members and one non-voting City Council liason. The Commission meets on the first Wednesday of every month.
